Audimute isolé is designed to be a 2-in-1 portable sound solution for soundproofing and sound absorption. One side of the isolé is a 0.75 NRC sound absorption panel used to prevent sound reflections and reverberation within a room. The opposite side is a dense layer of 1/16" Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV), which is used to block sound from passing through the isolé. The combination of materials makes isolé ideal for absorbing and blocking sound that would otherwise reflect and escape through doors, windows, vents, and other weaknesses in the structure.
Ideal applications include reinforcing doors, windows, and vents, or creating partitions. It is important to remember that soundproofing is about containment of air and overall mass and density of the surfaces around you. Audimute isolé is not designed or intended to soundproof a wall or ceiling structure, but is very effective when used over doors and windows or as a partition. For sound absorption, isolé can be used anywhere in a room and is most effective when mounted at the first point of reflection.

Using isolé over a door is an effective sound barrier, but coupling it with an Audimute Acoustic Door Seal Kit will help to better soundproof a door. An isolé Sheet is most effective at blocking sound transfer directly through a door. An Acoustic Door Seal Kit more effectively seals the gaps around a door to block sound that would otherwise travel through.
Please note:
When using isolé to help block sound from coming through a door or a window, the sheet should cover the entire door or window for the best result. Sound can travel anywhere air can travel.
The amount of sound that will be blocked depends on the application of the isolé along with the frequency and amplitude of the sound.

Q: Do you have guidance for how to hang these as a retractable panel curtain? I would like to hang them over a window for dampening night-time noises, but be able to slide them to the side in the daytime so I can get daylight. Suggested solutions would be appreciated.

A: Typically customers will uninstall them when not required. The grommets work well with all kinds of hardware and make them simple and easy to install. Many customers have engineered solutions to roll the isole or slide it out of the way using common materials and hardware.

Q: There should be a hole for the doorknob to go through. The bulge of a doorknob affects the length of the sheet. How can it reach the floor and cover the entire door and also account for the doorknob? Any suggestions for addressing this?

A: Residential doors vary significantly and creating a product that accounts for all variations is impossible. The Audimute isole is designed to work with as many door configurations as possible. We have found that despite the imperfect fit, the isole is the most effective and affordable solution for reinforcing doors and windows. We strongly suggest the Audimute Door Seal kit be implemented with the Audimute isole. The door seal kit creates an airtight seal while the isole provides absorption, mass, and density.

A: Great question Terry! We are able to provide a 4% discount on orders of four or more standard isolé® Sound Barrier Sheets and 8% if twelve or more are ordered. We are not able to discount the Clearance items any more than the clearance price, and, with them only being available as cosmetic defects occur, we often will not have many available in the same color.
